About

My name is Doug Daubert and I am the person behind Photos.DougDaubert.com.  I created this site to help streamline workflow.  I really enjoy sharing my work with family and friends.  Instead of dozens of e-mails (often with many photos attached) I can now simply post pictures on this site for your viewing pleasure.

Photography and web design have been a hobbies of mine for quite some time.  In the winter of 2008 I decided it was time to take my hobbies to the next level.

In the spring of 2008 I launched DaubertDesign.com.  Soon I hope to have a similar site up and running to showcase my photography.

Nikon D300

Nikon D300

The D80 was a wonderful camera and served me well.  But in the spring of 2008 I decided it was time to upgrade before the D80 was phased out by Nikon in favor of a newer model and it's value on the used marked plummeted.

Enter the D300.  Wow!  Wonderful image quality, great low light capabilities and a blazing fast 8 frames per second for sports.

Visit this site to see a complete review of the Nikon D300.

Here is my list of current equipment (not that anyone really cares...):

-  AF-S DX Zoom - NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED
-  AF-S DX Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED
-  AF-S DX VR Zoom NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G IF-ED
-  AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4
-  AF-S VR Zoom NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8 G IF-ED
-  Speedlight SB-600
-  Manfrotto 055 Pro-B tripod with 322RC2 head

And past equipment:

-  Nikon D80 -- SOLD
-  Nikkor 18-135mm DX -- SOLD
-  Nikkor 70-210mm AF-D -- SOLD

Note:  The best quote I have ever heard regarding camera equipment comes from Ansel Adams himself:  "The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it."

Canon A560

Canon A560

I picked up this little point-n-shoot to keep in my vehicle and take places where the big DSLR might not want to go.  The A560 is a pretty good camera, takes nice pictures and even uses the same memory cards as the Nikon.

I look at it like this -- I can take an A560 to the river/lake, on the boat, or out in the field hunting and not have to worry about dropping the D80 in the river/lake, or out of a tree stand.  Dropping A560 in the river would stink.  Dropping the D300 & 70-200mm VR in the river would be a disaster!

Minolta X700

Yes, it's old and it is a film camera.  However, I feel I must include my first camera here simply because, well, I took some really good photos with this camera in the past.

My daughter is currently using this camera to develop her photography skills.

Nikon D80

Nikon D80

I did a good amount of research before deciding on which DSLR to purchase.  I examined my needs, features of cameras, price, lenses, accessories, etc.  In the end one camera kept rising to the top of my list.  The Nikon D80.

Yes, the D80 served me well...and thanks to eBay will continue to serve a photographer in California well for many years to come.
